She began her solo career in 1984, and has continued with a successful series of Jumpin Kate Bands, stemming from 1986 to the present. Kate fronted the popular reggae band Cool Riddum starting in 1990, and blossomed into one of Nebraska's most well-known and respected artists. After 20 years and 11 albums, Kate has earned her position in the music scene playing originals and covers all over Las Vegas, the Midwest, and points beyond. Known as the "Matriarch of Rock" in her former hometown of Lincoln, Kate's bands sport a driving rhythm section topped by Kate's powerful guitar and vocals. Her dynamic stage presence is evidenced in the upbeat dialogue, the stories, and the easy rapport with audiences, and of course that jumpin' energy, therefore the well deserved nickname Whether performing solo or with a band, Kate wants everyone to experience good times, good music, and the positive energy that keeps audiences coming back. Jumpin Kate is a singer-songwriter who plays lead and rhythm
guitar covering a variety of rock, reggae, blues, folk, country, and
good ol' American pop, as well as performing and recording dozens of
her own original songs. She has recently joined a new band, The Chain Gang.
Melissa Rotert (that's me) is the
webmaster and sometimes keyboard
and back-up vocalist for Jumpin' Kate. She is part of the Lincoln
faction, and though performances are down to a once-a-year basis,
she still stays active in Katie's musical career. Melissa's day job
is billing clerk for a trucking company based in Omaha, NE. Her
night job is new mother and wife. Additionally, she's rocking again in a Lincoln cover band called No Resolve, manages several websites and is active in the
